Point Line Pland & Time - ONE 1,  a work that allows various interpretations on the power of light  and time, was showcased in May 2016 at the Chuncheon Art Museum. Projected in a corner of the museum, her two-channel videos do not look like what one usually expects.

Each of the two screens, juxtaposed side by side, plays forwards or backwards the changes of Time shot in the same place. At one moment in the middle of the play, the two videos encounter and cross each other. Through the videos the audience simultaneously encounters a time of the past, the present and the future. Furthermore, the work askes the audience: “where does your true self exist when you pass through an unpredictable time?” In the midst of moving clouds the brilliant light and the sound of waves quietly prod us to keep thinking about our lives.

The harmony that eases our moment of seeing the mysterious passing time and cyclical composition of nature is the subject that is dramatically manifested from the artist.

Artist Statement ​

『 점 선 면 시간 ONE 』 은 대칭된 스크린속에서 시간속의 나를 자화상으로 마주하게 되는 연작 시리즈 『구성 One. 마주하다』 시리즈에서 출발하였다. 작품 『 점 선 면 시간 ONE 』 은 두 개의 스크린으로 차순과 역순두 개의 화면이 동시에 진행된다. 중간지점의 단 한 순간 1초동안 둘은 일치되어 만나고 다시 자신의 진행방향으로 흐르며 둘은 멀어진다. 그들의 방향은 걸어가는 길인 동시에 시간이며 과거이면서 현재이면서 미래이다.

 

그렇다면 그 긴 시간을 관통하는 나는 어느시점이 진정한 ‘나’인가? 비로소 ‘나’ 인가 ?

두개의 화면이 서로의 처음과 끝으로 다시 돌아가고 ‘지금은 실제인가 ?' '진실은 하나인가? ' 홍나겸 의 2016년 춘천미술관에서 발표한 비디오 설치작품 『 점 선 면 시간 ONE 』 은 빗방울 소리로 시작해 그 파장이 장대비로 증강되다 두화면이 일치하는순간 고요한 바다 큰하나로 다다르며 결국 사운드는 파도소리로 마무리된다.

 

작가는 시간의 차순과 역순으로 진행되는 두 개의 화면과 동시에 들려주는 사운드를 통해 물한방울이 대지를 두드리고 모여 바다를 이루어 더 큰 또다른 하나를 이룬다는 메시지를 전달하며 그 어느것도 유일무이한 ‘단 하나 (One) 이다’ ‘하나(One) 가 아니다’라고 할수 없는 자연의 시간앞에서 눈에보인 한 순간만을 진실이라 믿고 판단하는 우리의 판단과 오류에대해 다시한번 묻고 대화나누고자 한다. ( 2016년 4월 홍나겸 ) ⓒ
